The new Red Sox uniforms are being called “retro roadies” by the folks over on Yawkey Way. Does that not sound like a fantastic cover band or what? Or perhaps a wedding band? Regardless, the uniforms are causing quite a stir among hardcore members of Red Sox Nation. Here are some of the early returns on the “retro roadies”:

   Red Sox leadership proving once again that:

   A. They think we’re idiots
   B. They have no respect for the Red Sox brand
   C. They are willing to sell the franchise’s dignity to make a few bucks.

   They even admit that they timed this for the holidays. When were the fans consulted as Mike Dee claims they were? The alternate uniforms are unnecessary, but the new cap is just plain wrong. Why must they tinker with something that is as close to perfect as logos get? Hint: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

   The new road uniforms are ok, I can understand that but changing the logo is just wrong. I am no fan of the weekend red jesey’s and that stuff, just stay with the home whites. All that other stuff is for the pink hats not the true fans.

   Changing the logo is ABSOLUTELY absurd. It looks awful, and there was NO reason to change them. The new cap is stupid. It is a total slap in the fans’ face to have the team wear a cap without the classic “B” logo.

   Neither needed any revision.

   The new road jerseys look reminiscent of the 80’s Sox road jerseys, so having them as VERY occasional “throwback” alternative jerseys is OK. However, these should only be backups that are worn VERY rarely.

   For once, I agree with Buckley - These new logos and uniforms are a travesty!

   I feel it’s much ado about nothing when “traditionalists” like Buckley and others rant over alternate uni’s. That the ownership are using the brand to raise more revenues, is their right and responsibility. Frankly, I am more interested in the players that fill these uni’s than the appearance (I happen to like the weekend red and st.paddy’s green, as well!)and given the success that the team has had, in spite of this “travesty”, I say ‘Go Red Sox!’. Since the new owners have taken over, they have always been very respectful and thoughtful in regards to changes. I will support this team. Be thankful we’ll never have to wear 70’s era Astro’s uniforms! Lastly, when you curmudgens see pink hats,camo hats,flat-rim hats, etc. just smile and think to yourself, ‘CHAMPIONSHIP’!

   There is no reason to change the uniforms and changing the logo is totally absurd. I am sad and dissapointed that there is not more of an outrage in red sox nation over these uniforms. Red Sox ownership thinks that we are complete idiots and can get away with anything they want, and thanks to all you pink hats out there I guess there right.

   Who Cares, what Red Sux uniforms they present, their uniforms are for sissies, there is only ONE uniform in all of sports, YANKEE pinstripes, they never ever go out of style, GO YANKS!!!

   The logo has changed throughout the history of this franchise. I like the throwbacks… I say throw em back to the baggie wool jerseys and give em small ass leather gloves. The hanging sox represents a throwback to the original logo.

   Steve Buckley is a turd and that guy Louie OBVIOUSLY hasn’t watched a single baseball game since the freakin’ Marlins smoked the yanks in the 2003 world series. HAHAHAHAH good luck w/ A.J. ( the human DL) Burnett and Coffee Cakes Sabathia you turd. You’re probably not even from New York, New Jersey…. maybe.

   GO NEW ALTERNATE UNIFORMS!!!!!
