Former Patriots and current Raiders defensive end Richard Seymour will likely play the 2010 season under a one-year, $12.4 million franchise tender, according to a report on NFL.com.
When the Patriots dealt the five-time Pro Bowl lineman to the Raiders in September 2009 it was assumed that a long-term deal would be worked out. However, as of Wednesday night it appears that no such deal is close, with a deadline of Thursday looming for any franchise player to sign a multi-year contract.
“Nothing new to report on this end,” Seymour texted to NFL.com’s Jason La Canfora Wednesday night.
Seymour played in all 16 games for the Raiders in 2009, collecting 31 tackles and 4.0 sacks.
