According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Rangers have pulled off a trade for Marlins infielder Jorge Cantu in exchange for right-handed pitchers Evan Reed and Omar Poveda, both of whom are at Double A.
The acquisition of Cantu gives the Rangers the bat they were rumored to be looking for and thus makes a Mike Lowell-to-Texas deal look less likely.
