Colts’ Austin Collie returns, but Anthony Gonzalez battling PCL injury

The curse of the Colts receiving corps continues. In what’s becoming a near weekly trend, another Colts wide receiver was bit by the injury bug. ESPN’s John Clayton revealed that slot man Anthony Gonzalez suffered a PCL knee injury after a cheap shot from Texans safety Bernard Pollard during Monday night’s contest. The Indianapolis Star expects him to “be out a while, possibly the season” and given his injury history, that’s a reasonable estimate.

The team did finally receive a bit of good news surrounding its pass catchers, however. Austin Collie practiced fully on Thursday, and the Indy Star would be “shocked” if Collie missed the game. Though he was originally projected to miss 2-6 weeks after having surgery to re-attach a thumb ligament, Collie has displayed some toughness in reducing the missed time to a minimum.

Collie has been a monster in his sophomore season, catching 44 balls for 503 yards and six touchdowns. Gonzalez, who’s been hindered by injuries, has played in only two games and tallied 67 yards on five catches for no touchdowns.
