Rodney Harrison on Titans: ‘They’re dirty, they’re cheap’ |

NBC Sports NFL analyst Rodney Harrison labeled the Titans a “dirty” team when discussing Sunday’s fight between cornerback Cortland Finnegan and Texans receiver Andre Johnson.
“This is no surprise to me,” said Harrison, who has a history of criticizing the Titans, dating back to when Harrison played for the Patriots. “This team, this is their personality. They’re dirty, they’re cheap. And whenever we played this team, the coaches would say before [the game], ‘Guys, beware. They’re going to tape a cheap shot at you, they’re going to try to provoke you [into] doing something.’ ”
Harrison wasn’t the only analyst to have negative things to say about Tennessee’s behavior.
“When I was at Indy, we played against Tennessee twice a year,” Tony Dungy said. “I always warned my players, ‘You have to keep your cool, especially against Cortland Finnegan. He’s going to try to get on your nerves.’ ”
Said CBS’ Shannon Sharpe: “Why is it I can close my eyes, and if there’s a team involved in a fight, I know it’s the Tennessee Titans? And if I keep my eyes closed, I know another guy is going to be involved, and it’s always Cortland Finnegan.
“I understand that [Titans coach] Jeff Fisher says, ‘We don’t coach this, we don’t condone this,’ but why is his team always involved in stuff like this?”

Rodney Harrison is going down in history as one of the dirtiest cheapest players to have ever played so him running his mouth is the pot calling the kettle black, yea cort is gonna do what he can to get in the wideouts head so he will drop balls miss calculate routes etc.

The Titans a “dirty and cheap” team? That’s one of the more ridiculous whiny comments I’ve heard this season. Obviously, Harrison is just a bitter, washed-up player-turned-(extremely mediocre) announcer.
And, yeah, real nice to make this kind of statement the weekend the Titans discover their coordinator has cancer. Not to mention the same weekend that they are forced to use a 3rd-string kid for QB who was clearly terrified.
Yep. Real classy Harrison and NBC.

The Titans have a reputation for being dirty, because under Fisher they have always been taught to play hard until the whistle blows. Cortland made a (bad) joke about how he wants to be known as the dirtiest player in the NFL. If any other player in the league would have gotten punched after jamming a receiver on the line (NOTE: AJ took a cheap shot on Cortland the play before) the player throwing the punches would have been suspended 1 – 2 games without a doubt. Every NFL player knows if you throw a punch you get suspended. Goodell has now given the green light to every player in the NFL that it is ok to throw a punch if you are provoked. I was at Auburn Hills when the Pistons and Pacers brawl took place and it was one of the biggest black eyes in professional sports in many years. Goodells ruling is condoning fighting. I dont care if Cortland provoked him (he didn’t he just jammed him off the line and yes he did get up in the helmet area). You have to have the discipline to overcome that and not throw punches. There is an unwritten rule in the NFL that when the helmet comes off, thats it. Andre just broke that rule. So much for the NFL being against head injuries. Now they are allowing blows (and a nice haymaker it was! lol) to the head go unchecked.. This really worries me.
