Report: Knicks closing in on deal for Carmelo Anthony 02.21.11 at 8:59 am ET
By Scott McLaughlin

The Nuggets and Knicks are working on the final details of a deal that would send Carmelo Anthony to New York, according to the Denver Post.

The paper cites league sources in saying the latest proposal would send Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams and either Anthony Carter or Renaldo Balkman to the Knicks in return for Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov and Eddy Curry.

The Nuggets have also been in talks with the Nets, but the Post says Anthony going to New Jersey is less likely because Anthony hasn’t said he would sign a contract extension with the Nets. He has indicated he would sign an extension with the Knicks.

  1. Julio Brignolle... Says:

As much as I love the idea of Melo coming to New York. The Knicks will regret trading the Russian Kid (Timofey Mozgov) ‘cuz I believe one or two years under the coaching of the Dream is all that’s lacking. Look at what Dwight Howard has become in only one summer with the Dream.

  2. Kyle Hauser smells Says:

I like this deal cause it’s good and I like Eddy Curry coming to the Nugs. Eddy curry is coming back in a big way, mark my words!

  3. Kyle Hauser Says:

Yeah!!! Eddy Curry to the Nuggets! Instant contenders!

  4. hess Says:

I think the trade is good. Because the nuggets are getting a lot of young and developing talent. The knicks are getting some

  5. Renz Says:

Knicks are making a big mistake letting go of Gallo. He’s been big in the Knicks success this year.

  6. Drew Says:

So does that mean that they keep Randolph? If not in getting rid of Mozgov they aren’t helping their lack of height problem. At this point I don’t care if the trade goes through or not. Gutting the team for one player is ridiculous.

  7. New York to Buffalo Says:

I can’t say I’m surprised. But I totally agree with Renz in letting go of Gallo…just not a smart decision by the Knicks. We’ll see if Mello can do anything in New York – I’m not very optimistic about it.

  8. Kris Says:

I do not like this trade. We already have a team that is capable of beating anyone in the NBA. The only thing holding NY back is youth and inexperience. We can be a contender within the next couple of years with the team we have now. Plus, we don’t need another scorer, we need some size and defense.

  9. hess Says:

I think the trade is pretty even. I don’t think theyh will give away gallanari. Instead I think they will put in mozgov and landry fields. Giving up chauncey and melo is always a bad idea but since they are getting future draft picks and young talent means they can build up there team with young guns.
