Former Bruins Marco Sturm and Nick Boynton were placed on waivers Friday by the Kings and Blackhawks, respectively, according to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com.
The Bruins traded Sturm to Los Angeles on Dec. 14 after five seasons with the team. He had four goals and five assists in 17 games with the Kings. Boynton spent four seasons with the B’s from 2001-06 and has spent time with the Coyotes, Panthers, Ducks and Blackhawks since then. The defenseman has one goal and seven assists in 41 games this season.
Wade Belak of the Predators, Kris Newbury of the Rangers and Todd Ford of the Capitals also were placed on waivers Friday.
