The University of Notre Dame has banned the use of hydraulic lifts and will now use remote-controlled cameras to film the football team’s practices.

This change comes about after an accident with the lifts last October that resulted in the death of  Notre Dame student Declan Sullivan.

Sullivan, the team videographer, fell 50 feet from a hydraulic lift tower while filming football practice on a particularly windy day. According to the National Weather Service, winds in the area were gusting at speeds up to 51 mph.

Sullivan’s death  is still under investigation by the Indiana Occupational Health and Safety Administration.
