| ‘Rest the Vest’ minor league promotion jests at Jim Tressel’s resignation | 06.07.11 at 11:58 am ET |
Maybe something good will come out of the sticky situation for Ohio State football after all.
Following former Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel‘s resignation, the Fort Meyers (Fla.) Miracle, a High Class-A affiliate of the Twins, allowed fans to donate sweater vests, made famous by Tressel from his days patrolling the Ohio State sidelines, Monday night in exchange for a chance to drive a sports car. The promotion was called “Rest the Vest” Night by the team.
But that was not the only Buckeyes-related part of the promotion. Any fans who showed ballpark attendants a tattoo of any kind would be given a piece of Miracle memorabilia “to keep or sell.” That part was meant to make fun of the Ohio State players who had given team memorabilia to a tattoo parlor in exchange for tattoos or other items.
