There is speculation that former MVP shortstop Miguel Tejada, currently with the Giants, is on the verge of being released by the team.
Tejada is struggling this season. In 56 games he is batting .218, with only one home run. The 37-year-old Tejada is nearing the end of his career. He is in his 15th season in the league and has played with the Athletics, Orioles, Astros, Padres and Giants. He won the AL MVP in 2002.
It has been speculated that when Pablo Sandoval returns from the disabled list this week it will be Tejada and his $6.5 million salary being released.

Didn’t Miguel Tejada also play with the Marlins, Cardinals and Red Sox?

No, he did not play with those teams, I made a mistake, my fault. I was thinking of the guy the red sox signed off the cardinals after the 04 championship, and spent one less than successful year here before being traded away the following offseason. My apologies.
