Kent Babb of The Kansas City Star reported this week that the NFL is investigating possible trademark infringement related to five players wearing their uniforms in an ad for an adult-themed expo in Miami.

Chiefs safety Eric Berry and cornerback Brandon Flowers were advertised in uniform as hosts for a May 20 party at Club Play, a Miami nightclub. The party kicked off the expo, called Exxxotica Expo 2011.

Texans cornerback Kareem Jackson, Raiders wide receiver Jacoby Ford and Bears safety Major Wright also appeared in the ad. The party also featured appearances by porn stars.

Babb wrote that both Berry and Flowers have denied any involvement with the party, with Berry saying he was not even in Miami on May 20. Babb provided Berry’s appearances in and around Kansas City the day of the party and the days after.

Flowers said he asked the club to remove his likeness from all ads, but his Twitter account also shows several tweets and retweets advertising the party.

Berry said he would support any action taken by the NFL.

League spokesman Brian McCarthy told the Star that the league’s legal department would send a cease-and-desist letter to Club Play, which “usually ends it.”
