Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal in four sets to win his first Wimbledon title Sunday morning.
Djokovic broke Nadal twice in the final set, going up 2-0 and 5-3 before winning when Nadal’s return sailed long on the final point of the match.
Djokovic also broke Nadal’s serve while up 5-4 to win the first set. Djokovic dominated Nadal in the second set, breaking him Nadal before winning 6-1.
Nadal won the third set 6-1.
Djokovic is now 48-1 in 2011, five times beating Nadal in the finals, including twice on clay courts, which has always been Nadal’s specialty.
Djokovic’s win was his third Grand Slam title. He previously won the Australian Open in 2008 and 2011.
