WHAT’S HAPPENING LOCALLY MONDAY:
MLB: Blue Jays at Red Sox, 1:35 p.m. (NESN; WEEI)

AROUND THE WEB:

♦ The Red Sox have the major leagues’ longest home sellout streak at 671, but they’re well behind the minor league Dayton Dragons. The Reds’ Class-A team reached 814 consecutive sellouts Saturday, tying the NBA’s Trail Blazers (1977-95) for the national sports record. The New York Times takes a closer look at how the team has been able to fill its 8,200-seat park for every game in its 12-year existence.

♦ With Major League Baseball’s All-Star team named, Matthew Pouliot at NBC Sports’ Hardball Talk presents his list of the 2011 un-All-Stars. Pitchers John Lackey and Bobby Jenks are the only Red Sox players to make the list of underachievers. Former Sox Jason Bay, Bill Hall, Bronson Arroyo and Brandon Lyon are on it as well.

♦ On the heels of renewed calls for the end of interleague play, Tim Sullivan in The San Diego Union-Tribune writes that it’s still worth doing, but with some tweaks.

The Kansas City Star writes about the movement to get the late Pat Tillman honored in some way by the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

ON THIS DAY TRIVIA: On July 4, 1977, the Red Sox set a major league record with eight home runs in a 9-6 victory over the Blue Jays. Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice, Butch Hobson and Bernie Carbo each hit one home run. Which two Sox had two homers?

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “When the guy in front of you is hitting [.353] with 70 some-odd RBIs, it’s expected. I love the challenge … I want to be the guy to bring the run home. We were very fortunate to do that.” — Kevin Youkilis, after the Astros intentionally walked Adrian Gonzalez and then walked Youkilis to force in the winning run in the ninth inning Sunday

STAT OF THE DAY: 17 — Consecutive games in which Dustin Pedroia has reached base

‘NET RESULTS: LeBron James got a little competitive at a kids basketball camp, knocking over a camper during a game of knockout.

Things got messy at the Tour de France after a rider in the middle of a pack collided with a spectator and fell into the pack.

TRIVIA ANSWER: Fred Lynn and George Scott
