The Timberwolves have fired coach Kurt Rambis, according to a tweet from Yahoo! Sports basketball writer Adrian Wojnarowski. Rambis coached in Minnesota for just two seasons, compiling just a 32-132 record over that time including a league-worst 17-65 in 2010-11 .
Minnesota has not had a winning season since 2004-05 and has not made the playoffs since it reached the Western Conference finals following the 2003-04. The team has All-Star Kevin Love returning and drafted Derrick Williams with the No. 2 overall pick in last month’s NBA draft.
