| Jets reportedly targeting WR Derrick Mason | 08.04.11 at 10:21 am ET |
Former Ravens wide receiver Derrick Mason is set to visit the Jets on Thursday according to the Baltimore Sun. He was released by the Ravens last week to save the team $4 1/2 million in salary cap room.
The paper speculates that if Mason were to sign with the Jets he would be the team’s No. 3 wide receiver behind Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress. It goes on to say that it would likely lead to Jerricho Cotchery getting released or traded.
Mason, has played 14 seasons in the league. He played his first eight with the Titans/Oilers before playing the last six with the Ravens. In 2010 he had 61 receptions for 802 yards and seven touchdowns. Mason is very durable having not missed a game in the last eight years.
