Giants place-kicker Lawrence Tynes called out NFL referees after no flag was thrown when Panthers linebacker Sean Ware fell into Tynes’ leg on a blocked field goal attempt during Saturday’s game, Bart Hubbach and Paul Schwartz of the New York Post wrote Sunday. Tynes suffered a bruised thigh and is now on crutches.
“What happened to the defenseless player [emphasis]?” Tynes said. “I don’t care if you tip the ball, you still shouldn’t be able to hit a kicker when he still has his plant foot on the ground.”
Hubbach and Schwarz also wrote than an MRI is scheduled for Sunday.
“I don’t understand where the hell the rule is, because I was the epitome of a defenseless player,” Tynes said. “I guess we’ll find out soon enough. I’m sure I’m talking out of school, but whatever.”
