Former Celtic Kendrick Perkins was arrested in his hometown early Saturday morning on charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct, but he released a statement through his lawyer Tuesday proclaiming his innocence.
“Mr. Perkins has maintained his innocence to the charges,” said attorney Langston Adams. “[He] is recovering at home with family suffering from injuries he receiving during the incident.”
According to Adams, witnesses have given varied reports of what occurred in the Beaumont, Texas night club, but police said that Perkins was allegedly fighting the manager of the establishment when they arrived.
The night before the arrest, Perkins reportedly collapsed at a party and was treated for dehydration at a local hospital.
