Broncos head coach John Fox has named Kyle Orton the team’s starting quarterback for their regular season opener against the Raiders, according to a tweet by Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post.
Fox also said he has not decided on the team’s backup quarterback, which has come down to Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn.
There were rumors last month that Orton could be traded, specifically to the Dolphins, but no deal was ever struck between the clubs.
Orton was traded to the Broncos in April of 2009 after playing his first four seasons in the league with the Bears. In two seasons with the Broncos, Orton has thrown for 7,455 yards and 41 touchdowns.
