Former Celtics fan favorite Brian Scalabrine has a tryout with the Italian club team Treviso, according to a tweet from Italian newspaper reporter Davide Chinellanto. The report indicates that Scalabrine will have a couple of weeks to make the team.
Scalabrine played last season with the Bulls and is a free agent. Since he does not have a contract with an NBA team, he does not need to have an opt-out clause in a contract with a foreign club to return to the NBA when the lockout ends.
Scalabrine has played 10 seasons in the NBA, the first four with the Nets, followed by five with the Celtics and then last season with the Bulls. He won an NBA title with the Celtics in 2008 and has averaged 3.2 points per game in his 10 seasons.
