| Johan Santana could pitch in majors this season | 08.29.11 at 3:52 pm ET |
After not pitching in a game this season due to having rotator cuff surgery last September, Johan Santana will pitch in the minors this weekend, and could pitch one of two innings for the Mets before the end of the season, according to an ESPN report.
Santana has been shut down since a rehab start with Class A St. Lucie, on July 28. The left-hander is currently in the midst of a six-year $137.5 million contract. He has pitched three full seasons with the Mets after playing the first eight years of his career with the Twins. He won the American League Cy Young Award in 2004 and 2006.
