| Lions RB Jerome Harrison’s life possibly saved by voided trade | 10.21.11 at 10:49 am ET |
After being traded to the Eagles earlier this week, Lions running back Jerome Harrison was discovered to have a brain tumor in his physical with Philadelphia doctors, according to ESPN. The trade — which would have sent Harrison to the Eagles for running back Ronnie Brown — was nullified by the discovery.
The trade may have saved Harrison’s life, as he would not have undergone a physical had it not been a requirement of the trade agreement. The running back is back on the Detroit roster but will not play for the rest of the season. He is undergoing treatment for the tumor. According to ESPN’s sources, Harrison’s prognosis for both life and his career in football is good.
Harrison, in his sixth season in the league and first with the Lions, has rushed 14 times for 41 yards in four games.
