Peyton Hillis‘s disastrous season just keeps on dragging along.
The Browns running back will not play in Cleveland’s game against the Rams this coming Sunday, according to Browns coach Pat Shurmur, as Hillis will be missing his fourth straight game since he originally strained his left hamstring on Oct. 16. Hillis re-aggravated the injury in practice last Friday, forcing him to miss the Browns’ loss to the Texans this past Sunday.
Hillis has missed five game this season and has been in contract squabbles with the Browns front office. The controversy surrounding Hillis prompted his teammates to confront him last week.
Here are more injuries to keep an eye on from Week 9.
The Browns will also likely be without backup running back Montario Hardesty, who tore a calf muscle last week in Cleveland’s game against the 49ers.
Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi was sent home on Monday after feeling concussion symptoms. Massaquoi suffered his second concussion in the last 13 months on Oct. 23 against Seattle. He missed Cleveland’s game against San Francisco before starting against the Texans this past week. But he was pulled in the third quarter after feeling “woozy.”
Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will miss the rest of the season with a torn right biceps he suffered in the first quarter of Tampa Bay’s loss to New Orleans on Sunday. “That’s football. That’s the unfortunate part of our game,” Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris said of McCoy’s injury.
Rams wide receiver Greg Salas‘ impressive rookie season was cut short on Sunday when he broke his right leg on Sunday against Arizona, an injury that will force him to miss the rest of the season. Salas’ 27 receptions lead St. Louis through its first eight games.
The Colts lost a pair of tight ends on Sunday. Veteran Dallas Clark injured his left leg in the first quarter of Indy’s loss to the Falcons on Sunday, while Brody Eldridge left early in the opening quarter to get X-rays on his hand and never returned. Coach Jim Caldwell called both injuries “significant” and it appears that both will miss more than a week of playing time.
Cowboys wideout Miles Austin will miss two-four weeks with a right hamstring injury he suffered in Dallas’ win over the Seahawks on Sunday.
Bills kicker Ryan Lindell will miss, at the very least, this Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. According to Buffalo coach Chan Gailey, Lindell either broke something in his right shoulder or the shoulder nearly popped out in the Bills’ loss to the Jets on Sunday. Lindell suffered the injury making a tackle on a kick return.
49ers running back Frank Gore said that the ankle injury he suffered in San Francisco’s win over the Redskins on Sunday will be “all right.” The injury did not seem to hinder Gore too much in his fifth-straight 100-yard performance against Washington.
Titans wide receivers were banged up in Tennessee’s game against the Bengals on Sunday, as Lavelle Hawkins (dislocated finger) and Nate Washington (bruised hip) both were injured in the game. But both are also expected to play in the game against the Panthers this Sunday. Tight end Jared Cook also suffered a bruised knee against Cincinnati, but he is not expected miss any time as well.
Redskins wide receiver Niles Paul will be out a couple weeks with turf toe, according to the team’s Twitter feed. Paul suffered the injury in the second quarter of Washington’s loss to the 49ers on Sunday.
