AROUND THE WEB:
♦ Lions defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh continues to deny he’s a dirty player even as he does things to get ejected, as he did Thursday when he stomped on the arm of Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith after pushing his head into the ground.
“What I did was remove myself from the situation the best way that I felt in me being held down in the situation that I was in,” Suh explained following the Lions’ 27-15 loss. “My intentions were not to kick anybody, as I did not. [I was] removing myself, as you see, I’m walking away from the situation. And with that I apologize to my teammates, and my fans and my coaches for putting myself to be in position to be misinterpreted and taken out of the game.”
Suh refused to apologize for his actions, sticking with the “misinterpreted” excuse.
“I was on top of a guy being pulled down and trying to get up off the ground, which is why you see me pushing his helmet down,” Suh said. “As I’m getting up, I’m getting pushed so I’m getting myself unbalanced. … With that a lot of people are going to interpret it as or create their own story lines … but I know what I did, and the man upstairs knows what I did.”
♦ Troubled former major leaguer Lenny Dykstra sat down for an interview with the New York Daily News after a five-month stint in county jail and claims he’s learned his lesson. “I really for the first time understand humility,” he said Thursday from The Hills rehab center in Los Angeles. “It’s not everybody else’s fault. It’s not a coincidence that I’m here. It happened because I was using drugs and alcohol. It was a reality check.”
♦ Thunder backup center Byron Mullens has spent part of the NBA lockout playing with players who are locked up. ESPN‘s Anna Katherine Clemmons writes about how Mullens visits a medium-security facility in his home state of Ohio to play pickup games with prisoners.
