Nerlens Noel, the Everett native who attends Tilton School in New Hampshire, announced Wednesday that he will play for coach John Calipari at the University of Kentucky next season. Noel, a 6-foot-10 center, is considered the top recruit in the nation.
“Coach Cal recruited me real hard,” Noel told ESPN. “He is a good person who cares about his players, he helps them reach their goals and the team’s goals. They play as a unit and are very unselfish. Also, the fans were incredible on my visit. They are behind the program 100 percent.”
Meanwhile, Las Vegas product Shabazz Muhammad, ranked just behind Noel, announced Wednesday that he would attent UCLA.
