In an attempt to heal the wounds left by the disappointment of losing on the Deron Williams sweepstakes last week, the Mavericks reached an agreement with the Pacers on Wednesday to acquire point guard Darren Collison.
The deal will send free-agent center Ian Mahinmi to the Pacers, who will send Collison and swingman Dahntay Jones to the Mavericks.
The trade comes on the same day that the Mavericks agreed on terms with center Chris Kaman, who signed for a one-year deal.
Collison has one year left on his contract that is worth $2.3 million. The three-year pro has averages of 12.1 points and 5.2 assists per game in his career.
