Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III suffered a “mild concussion” Sunday after a hit by Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon. Griffin reportedly did not know the score of the game or what quarter it was following the hit.
Griffin left the pocket and tried to run up the sideline when Weatherspoon laid a big hit on the QB, driving him to the ground. Trainers attended to Griffin after he slowly walked to the sideline. He appeared to have a bloody lip.
Medical staff checked for a concussion before announcing Griffin would not return to the game.
Griffin’s biggest asset is his ability to scramble and run the ball, which makes him harder to protect. His style could make him an injury liability for the Redskins going forward.
No official announcement on his status for next week’s game has been made yet, but Griffin took to Twitter and indicated that he thinks he’ll play.
