Coach Mike McCarthy announced Wednesday that Packers running back Cedric Benson has been placed on injured reserve with a designation to return.
Benson injured his foot against the Colts in Week 5. The NFL’s new injured with return designation rule will make Benson eligible to start practicing with the team in six weeks and return to games in eight weeks.
As the Packers head to Houston this weekend, McCarthy is dealing with a few injuries. Wide receiver Greg Jennings, tight end Jermichael Finley and defensive tackle B.J. Raji all are game-time decisions for the Packers.
