Yankees ace CC Sabathia had arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow on Thursday.
The Yankees expect Sabathia to fully recover before the start of next season.
“They found a small bone spur,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. “It was a quick and minor cleanup. We’ll take him along slowly through spring training and he’ll be ready for Opening Day.”
Cashman had said the team would assess Sabathia’s elbow in the offseason, particularly after his poor performance in Game 4 of the ALCS against the Tigers.
Sabathia was on the disabled list from Aug. 8-24 when the same elbow was inflamed.
