Former NESN Red Sox reporter Heidi Watney will join MLB Network as a studio host and reporter beginning in January, the network announced Monday.
Watney was a popular figure on NESN from 2008 until she decided to return to her native California last fall, accepting a job with Time Warner Cable SportsNet in Los Angeles to work Lakers games. However, the Lakers reportedly objected to the network hiring Watney before getting the team’s clearance, and she recently struck a deal to leave the company without having appeared courtside.
