Former NESN Red Sox reporter Heidi Watney will join MLB Network as a studio host and reporter beginning in January, the network announced Monday [2].
Watney was a popular figure on NESN from 2008 until she decided to return to her native California last fall, accepting a job with Time Warner Cable SportsNet in Los Angeles to work Lakers games. However, the Lakers reportedly objected to the network hiring Watney [3] before getting the team’s clearance, and she recently struck a deal to leave the company without having appeared courtside.
