Mark Sanchez to start at QB for Jets on Sunday

The Jets announced Wednesday that maligned quarterback Mark Sanchez [1] will start Sunday’s game [2] at Jacksonville. Coach Rex Ryan [3] took two days to make his decision, following Sunday’s 7-6 victory over the Cardinals in which Sanchez was pulled in the third quarter for third-stringer Greg McElroy [4] after throwing three interceptions in his first 10 passes. McElroy went on to lead the team on its only scoring drive, throwing a 1-yard touchdown pass. Backup Tim Tebow [5] is recovering from broken ribs.

The New York Daily News [6] reported that owner Woody Johnson [7] preferred McElroy for Sunday’s game but general manager Mike Tannenbaum [8] and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano [9] wanted Sanchez.
