ESPN suspended “First Take” panelist Rob Parker following Thursday’s incendiary comments about Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III.
Tweeted ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys on Friday morning: Following yesterday’s comments, Rob Parker has been suspended until further notice. We are conducting a full review.
Parker indicated that he felt Griffin was distancing himself from his African-American background and questioned whether RGIII “is a brother, or is he a cornball brother?”
Explained Parker: “He’s black, he kinds of does his thing, but he’s not really down with the cause; he’s not one of us. He’s kind of black, but he’s not really the kind of guy you want to hang out with because he’s off to something else.”
Parker has been inundated with criticism since the show aired. He tweeted a response to one critic, referring to the individual’s comments as “typical and uneducated.”
