Update: Michael Vick agrees to 1-year deal with Eagles

Michael Vick has agreed to a restructured one-year contract to remain with the Eagles, the team announced Monday. It replaces the remaining portion of the six-year, $100 million deal Vick signed in 2011 and makes him eligible for free agency after next season. Under reported terms of the new deal, Vick could make as much as $10 million in 2013.

There had been widespread speculation that the oft-injured quarterback would depart Philadelphia this offseason, following a 2012 campaign in which the 32-year-old started the first nine games before suffering a concussion. Prior to the injury, there were calls for him to be replaced by rookie Nick Foles as the team struggled to a 3-6 mark. Vick, who started the season finale after Foles broke his right hand, completed 58.1 percent of his passes for 2,362 yards and 12 touchdowns vs. 10 interceptions while rushing 62 times for 332 yards in 10 games.

The Eagles faced a deadline last Wednesday in which they had to pay Vick a $3 million bonus if he remained on the roster. He was due to make $15.5 million in 2013.

New Eagles coach Chip Kelly is expected to install an uptempo offense that could be a better fit for Vick.
