Patriots 6th, Red Sox 11th in Forbes list of most valuable teams

Forbes magazine released its list of the most valuable sports franchises in the world, and the Patriots are sixth overall, while the Red Sox rank 11th.

The Pats are second to the Cowboys in the NFL. The Cowboys rank fifth at $2.1 billion. Twenty of the top 30 teams are from the NFL, including the Giants (ninth at $1.468 billion) and Jets (14th at $1.284 billion).

The Red Sox, valued at $1.312 billion, are the third MLB team ranked, behind the Yankees (No. 4 at $2.3 billion) and Dodgers (No. 7 at $1.615 billion).

Neither the Celtics nor Bruins made the list. The Lakers are the top NBA team, ranking No. 31 at $1 billion. The Maple Leafs head the list of NHL teams, ranked No. 32 at $1 billion.

Spanish soccer team Real Madrid ranks No. 1 at $3.3 billion, taking over the top spot from Manchester United (second at $3.165 billion). Barcelona is third at $2.6 billion.

The Yankees check in at No. 4 with a value of $2.3 billion.
