Offensive lineman Richie Incognito, who said that he took a baseball bat to his own $300,000 Ferrarri and put dents in the hood, is undergoing treatment at a psychiatric care unit, according to a report at NFL.com.

Incognito, who previously has acknowledged issues with anger management and depression, reportedly checked into the facility Thursday night. He had been staying at his offseason home in Arizona after spending several weeks in hotels in Hawaii and Los Angeles while “multiple parties attempted to intervene,” the report indicates.

Earlier Thursday, Incognito talked to Fox 10 in Arizona about the damage to his car.

“Oh that was that was just me venting, that was self expression, that’s a piece of art,” Incognito said. “The happiest day of my life was when I got that car and now the second happiest day will be when I donate it to charity. The Ferrari is a story unto itself, the Ferrari is one entity, but I will tell you this the Ferrari is going to be for sale through my mission which is helping the brotherhood, whatever brotherhood it is.”

Incognito was suspended by the Dolphins midway through the 2013 season for his role in the bullying scandal that led to the departure of teammate Jonathan Martin. An independent investigator, in a report released earlier this month, determined that Incognito was largely at fault for the team’s locker room issues.

Incognito’s parents recently filed for divorce, and he reportedly has been providing financial support to the family.
