The Chargers agreed to a two-year contract extension with running back Danny Woodhead, the team announced Tuesday.

Woodhead signed a two-year contract with San Diego as a free agent last offseason after three productive years with the Patriots. His new deal runs through the 2016 season.

“Danny is an integral part of our offense,” general manager Tom Telesco said. “His work ethic and on-field production were key elements last year. We look forward to having him be a part of the Chargers organization into the future.”

Woodhead put up career numbers in catches (76), yards (605) and touchdowns (six) last season.
