The Red Sox could have a renewed interest in Arizona catcher Chris Snyder. According to MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert, D’backs interim GM Jerry Dipoto is interested in dealing Snyder (as well as some other Arizona players), and with a possible deal for Mets’ catcher Rod Barajas likely off the table because of an injury to Barajas, the Sox could be interested. Boston has reportedly expressed an interest in Snyder, a 29-year-old who is hitting .231 with 10 homers and 32 RBI this season.

It appears the Bulls are ready to sign veteran Tracy McGrady if he’s healthy enough and convince the team he’s willing to take a backup role, according to ESPN. A source quoted in the story indicates that if McGrady meets those two criteria, McGrady to Chicago is pretty much a done deal. “Nothing is done until it’s done, but I expect the Bulls to sign McGrady later this week,” the source told ESPN. The former NBA All-Star and free agent has been linked to the Bulls, the Heat and Clippers.

According to MLB.com, the Red Sox are one of several teams that have inquired about Florida reliever Leo Nunez. (As of Saturday afternoon, Florida is eight games out in the division race, and 5.5 in the NL wild card standings.)

Arizona appears determined to unload Haren 07.24.10 at 1:36 pm ET
By Chris Price   |  No Comments

The Dan Haren Sweepstakes are in full swing, as several reports indicate that the Diamondbacks are set on moving the right-hander before next week’s trade deadline. Arizona CEO Derrick Hall wouldn’t say there’s a current front-runner to land the 29-year-old, but it’s been reported that the Yankees, Twins, Tigers, Phillies, and Cardinals are all in the mix.

While New York has shown interest in Haren, there continue to be differing accounts as to what they would offer for them, with several reports saying that the Yankees would not try and land Haren at all costs. ESPN’s Buster Olney suggests New York doesn’t value Haren as highly as it did Cliff Lee, while SI.com’s Jon Heyman tweeted the Yankees are willing to surrender pitching prospects Ivan Nova and Zach McAllister and two other prospects for Haren, but they will not eat Haren’s contract and include Joba Chamberlain, the latter a point echoed by Bob Klapisch of the Bergen Record.

Cincinnati could be the landing spot for free agent wide receiver Terrell Owens. Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer has been working out on a regular basis with Owens, and has reportedly told Cincinnati management that Owens would be a real asset, according to ESPN. Owens, who met with the Bengals on a free-agent visit in March, also apparently has a strong ally in fellow receiver Chad Ochocinco — the two have promoted each others’ reality shows on VH-1. Earlier this week, Owens’ agent Drew Rosenhaus said he was “very confident” that Owens, who played last season for the Bills, would have a new team “within the next few weeks.”
