AROUND THE WEB:

— The Jaguars fired coach Gus Bradley on Sunday, mere hours after Jacksonville’s 21-20 loss to the Texans. That loss was the Jaguars’ ninth straight and dropped the team to 2-12 on the season.

Bradley leaves Jacksonville with the second-worst winning percentage of NFL coaches who have coached at least 50 games.

Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell is expected to hold a press conference Monday afternoon to announce the interim coach for the final two games of the season.

The decision was made by the team’s owner, Shad Khan, who spoke of Bradley’s dedication to the team in a statement on Sunday.

“As anyone close to our team knows, Gus gave his staff and players literally everything he had. Our players competed for Gus and I know they have great respect for him, as do I,” the statement read.  ” … It is unfortunately evident that we must make a change. I thought it would be best to do it immediately after today’s result so Gus can step away, relax and regroup with his family during the Christmas and holiday season.”

The Jaguars are 14-48 since Bradley became coach in 2013. After being fired, Bradley returned home from Houston on the team charter.

Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley was hired Thursday to be the next head coach of the Jaguars.

Bradley has been with the Seahawks for the past four seasons, with the defense improving each of the past three years.

The Seahawks ranked in the top 10 in both points and yards allowed in the last two seasons. This year, though, was by far the best for Bradley’s squad. The Seahawks defense ranked first points allowed (15.3), fourth in yards (306.2), and tied for fourth in takeaways (31). The Jaguars who ranked 30th in the league in total defense this past season.

Bradley started his NFL coaching career with the Buccaneers as a defensive quality control coach in 2006 and was promoted to linebackers coach the following year. He joined the Seahawks in 2009.

“He’s got a brilliant football mind,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said this week. “He’s got a way of reaching people and touching people and getting the best out of them, coaches and players alike. He’s got everything that you’re looking for.”

Bradley replaces Mike Mularkey, who went 2-14 in his only season in Jacksonville.
